Stop playing the blame-game, it doesn’t become the office which you hold. Did you become president so you could get tee times any time, any place in the free world? I could see a single game of golf where you could discuss things in a relaxed atmosphere, but God help me! ISIS, or what ever this cancer on humanity calls itself, needs to be extirpated, not “contained” or whatever quaint little antiseptic phrase one cares to use. Comments inspired by a viewing of “Lone Survivor”
I just watched “Lone Survivor” this afternoon with my wife. It is a tragedy of cosmic proportions. Looking back to 1969 when I was a 1st Lieutenant of Marines, I remember the reporting in process and getting assigned to the 11th Marine Regiment (artillery) and the huge bulk of ROE (rules of engagement) papers I had to read before I reported to my unit (Battery G) in the former Republic of Viet Nam. They were mind- boggling in their size and scope. Compared to the ROEs of today, they were like a hand written note on a scrap of paper.
I have come to the conclusion that the “war planners’ are of a mind set that would have us fight like the armies of the earliest millennia of recorded history: go out in a phalanx, blow trumpets, break for lunch, back to fighting and then call it quits for the night and pick it up again in the morning. Either that or these colossally arrogant and stupid jack wagons have no clue of what real combat is like. Based on the denouement of Viet Nam and the tragic misconduct of the Iraqi and Afghani wars, oh, and the coming soon to a middle east near you – Iranian conflict, I firmly believe that more than half of the 535 lesser lights inhabiting the political swamp (DC), several former executive officeholders, and the Joint Chiefs Of Staff for the last 2 decades should all be arrested and tried for treason, misprision, malfeasance and any other crimes you can think of. Serial Murder would be a good start. All of the men and women who died as a result of these lame ass ROEs should be hung around the neck of every politician who caved to political correctness.

Unfortunately, there are times when we must go to war to protect our nation and way of life, although I’m afraid the the way of life I grew up enjoying may have gone the way of the Dodo! This womb to tomb welfare state the political geniuses are creating is going to leave this nation full of desperate people who have no food, no work, and worst of all, NO HOPE! Is that the change we were promised?
Apparently DC is the modern day equivalent of the Land of the Lotophagi – Lotus Eaters. Once an electee arrives and starts sampling the fruit of the lotus, he becomes addle-brained and falls into the customs of the totally addicted and begins to believe the garbage that spews from the fonts of current political wisdom. The other widespread affliction of the political class is rectocranial inversion which seems to be completely irreversible. The populace has a problem inasmuch as it keeps sending these less than stellar examples of humanity back to the House and Senate. We can bitch and moan as much and as long as we care to but if we don’t start vetting better candidates, we’re going to wind up with some truly amazing examples of the living brain dead.
Please let us resolve to winnow the wheat from the chaff in government and find responsible people who will not try to micromanage our lives and will rein in the bureaucracy which seems to believe that its sole purpose is to make our lives perfectly miserable by creating as many contradictory rules and regulations as possible.
Time to look backward for our Military Brass!
I have taken pen in hand (figuratively) this time to opine and kvetch about General James Amos, the Commandant of the Marine Corps (CMC), and his part in the court martial of several Marines accused of urinating on the cadavers of several former Taliban murderers and terrorists.
Strike 1! General Amos was from the air wing: He’s all about “diversity”.
Strike 2! He demeans the office of CMC by violating basic rules of UCMJ
Strike 3! This pussified “marine” is a marine in name only and has made a mockery of the spirit of the United States Marine Corps in order to get along with the civilian leadership of the United States government.
It is time for someone with a soul and a brain to deep select a replacement – one who hasn’t made a Faustian deal and handed his testicles over for his stars.
For the love of God, why can’t anyone remember that the job of the military is to kill the enemy, destroy his capability to wage war, and to demoralize him. Please tell me who worried over “collateral damage” and civilian casualties in 1945 when Harry S. Truman, Democrat, gave the order to unleash hell on the Japanese people? Was there any similar concern when allied bombers leveled Dresden? The Untied States – I specifically used the word untied – doesn’t have the stomach for war. If we would commit to WINNING wars, they wouldn’t drag on for years at a phenomenal loss of national treasure!
I came home from Viet Nam angry and frustrated at the waste of our young men because of the dithering politicians. They are doing the same even today. We as a nation must elect politicians who will not go native when they are inside the Beltway; will swear to uphold the entire Constitution; will not seek to become a congressman or senator for life; Supreme Court Justices should not be granted lifetime appointments – 10 years is enough for any judge. And for good measure, senators need to be appointed by their state’s governor and legislature for 6 years and then GO HOME! They might be less apt to grandstand and try to become “great statesmen”. Case in point: that miserable twit Harry Reid who has done more to bring opprobrium on the senate than Joe McCarthy could ever have brought down. I am really beginning to believe that the man has gone soft in the head based on some of his meandering musings on the senate floor . . . Harry, nobody cares that you like to go shopping! It ain’t a special outing! Most of us do it on a regular basis if we want to eat. Duh! But, Harry, keep on keeping on and continue to make a mockery of yourself and the senate, the greatest deliberative body in the world (which hasn’t found enough time to cobble together a national budget in about 4 or 5 years), but yeah, hold onto that sobriquet since it fits so well. . . . As if!

Senior field grade officers (colonels) seeking their 1st star have become ass-kissers and suck-ups of the first order. They no longer have the warrior spirit that propelled them to their elevated rank. Too many of the Flag Officer wannabes have spent the majority of their careers as REMFs which explains Dempsey, Mullen, et al. They have no feel for combat nor empathy for the combat grunt. “Stand down?” “Hold in place?” is there a difference in the result of those orders other than the wording? The result is the same! When you start parsing like that, it is time for you to put aside your uniform and never, ever claim honorable service in the US Military!
Every cabinet member and 99% of advisers and staff should be marched out of their offices and publicly humiliated and then shunned for their treasonous actions as well as inaction. Politicians should note well that if you are going to commit American lives to battle, you damn better well be prepared to support them to the finish. If you’re not in it to win it, then stay the hell out! You don’t lose limbs, suffer from PTSD or other combat related afflictions as you remain comfortable and protected in your congressional offices. It’s your guts but it’s our blood, you self-serving poseurs. Your political careers aren’t worth one drop of our blood! I don’t recall any “Hearts and Minds” outreach during WWII and look at the results: 2 of our strongest allies today are Japan and Germany! Try to remember that the military’s job is to kill people and destroy things, NOT to be an International Meals -On-Wheels!
Look what our touchy-feely approach to international affairs has brought us – we are ridiculed and ignored and tested by every tin pot tyrant across the globe! Way to go, professional politicians! We can’t thank you enough.
Let me make a suggestion to all politicians: Go read and study the United States Constitution then read the Federalist Papers and try to apply that to your job. Just because you think something is “good” doesn’t mean that it’s constitutional – eg. The Patient Affordable Care Act. Look at the early history of the United States. How many of our early elected senators and representatives wanted a life-long sinecure as a public official? None that I can think of. There was a good reason senators were appointed by state legislatures instead of direct election – just look at our congress today – QED! A further suggestion is to read all legislation before enacting it. How in the hell can you vote for something of which you are ignorant or all you know of it is what your staff and/or lobbyists have told you. Take care of your own district for a change. All your half baked theories aren’t worth a warm bucket of spit!
Ignore the constitution at your peril. Populus iamdudum defutatus est! The people have been screwed long enough! Try to remember, dear politician, IT AIN’T ABOUT YOU! It’s about WE THE PEOPLE! If you work, and I use the term loosely, under that principle, maybe, just maybe the country will pull out of its death spiral and we can reclaim our position in the world.

There are any number of Marines on Facebook who will tell you that we were all taught that you cannot lead from behind; you can be part of the problem or you can be part of the solution; lead, follow, or get the hell out of the way; you can make things happen or you can just watch what happens, or you can scratch your head and wonder what happened. From my reading of the aftermath, it appears this administration continues to “lead” from behind, won’t have the decency to get out of the way, continues to be a part of the problem, and scratches its collective ass and wonders what happened. The bullshit that spewed forth from Leon Panetta’s facial cavity is risible! You’re watching this event unfold in front of your eyes in real time and you have the balls to state that you didn’t have sufficient intelligence? I now understand what you meant – you, personally, didn’t have the basic human intelligence to understand what you saw. To all the others involved in this massive, lethal clusterf**k, thank your stars that this is not Japan or ancient Rome. Your suicide would be the least to be expected of you. What he puts in his sandwiches IS a concern to me. He does make one helluva spicy chicken sandwich (personal favorite).

Down South, we have known for quite some time that the Cathy family members were “Bible-thumpers” from way back. They close shop on Sunday literally for Christ’s sake! Bloomingidiotberg, Minimindino! Go away! Reorganize your closets, your sock drawers, and your underwear drawers. Leave the rest of us alone. We can figure it out for ourselves
Tragically, last week a looney tune wrought death and injury on an unsuspecting public. Immediately after it was reported, the usual cast of useful and useless idiots were abroad voicing their opinions on gun control and naming all the right wingers who were directly responsible for the attack. One of the comments that piqued my interest was made by President Obama. He said that he has 2 daughters who like to go to the movies and he feared for them. I would call this factoid to the President’s attention: The girls would be accompanied by their Secret Service detail and another James Holmes would be lucky to get one shot off before he would be double tapped. End of story.
Think back to the Internet Cafe in Florida that was assaulted and trashed by a couple of would be thugs. Seems that a 70+ year old patron didn’t take to kindly to his computer time being disrupted so he pulled out his pistol and popped off a few shots – one shot striking one of the thugs in a very fleshy region. Please make note: The police are reactive and not proactive. Maybe you hadn’t noticed, but they usually arrive after the fact to clean up the mess. Not everybody who owns a firearm is a homicidal maniac just waiting for the next opportunity to shoot up a movie theater full of fun loving patrons out for the fun of being part of the opening night of a new release.
Now let me go back to worrying about how Mitt Romney spends his money. I don’t need to worry about how the government is spending my money – I’m terrified about that!
Back from the Brain Dead
It has been a long, long time since I last entered a post on the blog. There are so many topics on which to blog that my head has begun to spin. I spend so much time agonizing over a choice topic that by the time I have made up my mind, the topic is passe!
I am still smoking over the Supreme Court decision to uphold Obamacare. Explain why a 5-4 decision to overturn is conservatives politicizing a decision but a 5-4 decision to uphold is brilliant, enlightened, yadayadayada. Why is Harry Reid not greeting at the local funeral parlor? Why is Nancy Pelosi not working with a like group of people wearing floppy shoes and water flowers and piling out of a miniature car? Why do I see an oil slick after any one of several democrat operatives appear? Why do I want to puncture my eardrums and gouge out my eyes whenever Debbie Wasserman-Schulz appears on TV to offer up her pre-programmed list of DNC talking points? Why am I more afraid of the US DOJ under Eric Holder’s eagle-eyed supervision than I am of organized crime? (I think the dons and capos have more honor and integrity.)
I am so afraid that if his Obamajesty is re-elected, the United States will become a fading memory. His administration is the epitome of the rule of unintended consequences! Can someone explain how a man can swear to uphold the Constitution of the United States on one hand and on the other, do everything in his power to destroy it? He rolled into office on the promise of Hope and Change – to fundamentally change the United States. I guess destruction is a fundamental change. . . .
There comes a time in the course of human events that a situation becomes so intolerable that good and decent men must make up their minds to take action to remedy the situation. First and foremost, Obama cannot be re-elected. Then a concerted effort must be made to rein in a run amok bureaucracy and bring it to heel. Next, benefits of federal regulations need to be evaluated vis-a-vis the unintended consequences of said regulations and the useless ones must be culled. and finally, the concept of political office as a lifetime job must be eradicated! There was a reason the framers set up terms of office for representatives and senators: 2 years for reps so the folks back home would have input and 6 years for senators to provide some seniority and stability. Those terms, if the public would co-operate, would eliminate the imperial airs adopted by our longer serving pols. (Self-serving) Personally, I would ban graduates of any Ivy League school from ever holding any office of any kind – a hundred year ban on Ivy Leaguers from governmental service. Based on the damage they’ve done to the US, it ought to be a millennium ban!
The history of the US should be taught in-depth Elhi. The constitution should be thoroughly explored as it is written without noting the shadows, suggestions, penumbras, et al which have been miraculously found by our more progressive jurists. Elections matter and stupid people vote as well as venal people. A vote for a third-party, write-in candidate or no vote will be a vote for the current president! Please bear that fact in mind before you cast your vote.
